How can I get a job as a network engineer if I have my CCNA but no experience?
Q. How do you get an entry level network engineer job? I find it extremely difficult to find work even with a CCNA certificate. Are there any companies that take in individuals as junior network engineers or interns? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

A. Dear friend You can do it CCNA Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) Candidates have the option of gaining the certification by passing two tests (ICND1 640-822 and ICND2 640-816), or one single test (CCNA 640-802); the two-test option has the advantage of allowing the candidate to focus on certain subjects.[1] The certification is valid for three years; at that time a CCNA holder must either re-take the CCNA or ICND exam, or take and pass an exam for one of the Professional (e.g., CCNP) or Specialist level certifications (excluding the sales specialist exams), or pass the CCIE written exam. These exams are known by their corresponding numbers. When the curriculum of the exam changes the exam number also changes. The current exam… [cont.]

A. Rather than jump straight into a CCNA course, prowl around the Cisco site and download some of the basic router manuals. Also do Google searches for Cisco router tutorials, basically so that you will be half prepared before you even start. Go to and have a look at the Open University course. Far cheaper than above, will take 10 months to complete, has 4 labs and brilliant support. If you wish you'll be able to pay over time through a bursary account which is easy to set up and should you wish to continue, it's a start to a BSc degree. Good luck and good studying, whatever route you pick.

A. ccna learning needs of 42 courses, because you are engineers, so as long as a month you can do it. If you want to pass ccna in a week. you need any material in CCNA 640-802 Exam.

What kind of jobs will I have if I get CCNA certified?
Q. I am currently studying topics on networking like, TCP/IP, ethernet, OSI protocol stack, bit of wireless, etc After that i wish to follow a CCNA course and get certified. What kind of jobs can I apply for? What roles will I have to do? Will there be programming involved? (I know C and C++ but Im not too good at them) Are there too many networking technicians out there for me to get a good paying job?

A. CCNA is a good start to get yourself an entry level job. The problem is you'll also need to understand computer systems. I.E. servers, and operating systems. No one is going to hire a network admin purely based on the CCNA. I would suggest looking at a MCP, A+, or Server+ just to show you have aditional skills. CCNA will help you get in the door, but to get a good network tech job your going to need at least the CCNP, and others. Focus on security, is good to go with your Ciscos. Microsoft certs are good too!

A. It may be that that particular guide is no longer in circulation. I found the following 2008 published works available on Amazon. Network Fundamentals, CCNA Exploration Companion Guide There is also quite a bit of information about the exam itself and additional study material available at the Cisco Certification site. CCNA Certification Another place that you may be able to find information about this cert and others would be the ProProfs web site. Sorry I can't help more. Good Luck with your exams.

A. Hi Ranti, Salary does not depend on just the certification you do. But also your delivering capabilities that will matter the most. But since you are very much interested in it I will say my friends salary. He is working in Cisco and completed his CCNA last month. His salary is 14lakhs CTC per annum. One more time - certifications will not decide the salary.

A. Dear CCNA is Very good Course But usefull if you knows networking and able to take headack. It involves Routers Operations and Starter Career Option in CISCO Domain. Says You need to handle routers and there Operations But I Suggest you must have some Background of Networks My Previous Experience Says that Students Not Understanding the Ports and Protocols feel upset.{Generally They Find a NEXT tab to configure the router when coming from Microsoft Background} So Prepare your Mind Well it is not a Kidds Era . Better Don't Stick at CCNA Do CCNP afterwards it will established your Career as a Professional otherwise you need to waste your time in Smaller Compnies for at least One Year I hope This will help you. If I have a CCNA certification, will I be able to get a CCSP certification without getting a CCNP first?
Q. I am currently in a Cisco CCNA networking academy. I wish to go to a CCSP boot camp afterwards. Is this reasonable? Do I need to know all the things in CCNP first before I try to take a CCSP exam?
Asked by diggity801 - Fri Sep 25 18:42:10 2009 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. CCNP and CCSP are quite separate. There is a bit of overlap (particularly with CCNP's ISCW exam), but one is not a prerequisite of the other by any means. You need CCNA Security before you can go for your CCSP now, though.

A. David is bang on - I rather like these modern computer based tests for that very reason - no wondering for days or weeks! With some Cisco exams though they are working on anti cheating technologies and doing "forensic examination" of answers, and the report you get at the end of the test is a provisional result subject to that examination.

A. Well worth doing ... cost of doing this later runs into thousands .. It's will be reasonably difficult (but not impossible) for some-one with minimal practical experience - it's quite specialist material, however anyone with A level maths and a logical outlook should be able to complete it.

How long did it take you to get your CCNA?
Q. I've heard getting CCNA qualified can take ages. Some people have told me they've spent 6 months studying for it and some people say they have managed it after a 5 day crash course. I've seen some of the course material and exam questions and because I'm quite knowledgeable about netwoking (although I've never dealt with a cisco router in my life before) it all seems pretty straight forward so far, so whats the catch? How long did it take you?
Asked by feckless_mess - Mon Nov 27 00:24:14 2006 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Its going to take you very long seeing as you got no cisco experience. Those who acheived it in a crash course have had at least a year or two worth of hands on experience & thats why it seemed easy. If you have no experience, you will have to study for quite a while before passing your exams. What qualifications do you have below ccna? & how many years worth of hands-on experience do you have?
